It’s the most wonderful time of the year, CF update

Now that I’ve had my day to sulk over the Patriots loss to Denver, it’s time to get back to work. This team is so good, it’s amazing what they’re able to do. They played and were beating the #1 defense in the NFL with 1 legitimate WR, an offensive line thats been patched together, and their backup RB. I know every team is banged up at this point, but look at how baron they are at WR. Even the WR group in Baltimore, or Carolina is better than what the Pats are playing with right now. I think the clock management was poor towards the end of the game, the pass play Gronk got hurt on should’ve been a run. That whole drive should’ve been run, run, run, punt if need be. It’s kind of good they lost, I think BB will be able to use that as motivation. ‘Dola will be back soon, Gronk will be healthy in a couple weeks, if things go well for Edelman, he’ll be back by week 17 or the playoffs, Collin’s & Hightower should be back up to speed in a couple weeks. The Lewis injury is still a tough one to deal with. I’m just glad they lost now, I couldn’t handle them going 16-0, just to lose in the SB again.

Anyways, onto the Jonny stuff.

My knee is feeling significantly better than it was the last time I posted. It’s still a little swollen, but I’m able to walk without crutches now. Just around the house and stuff, I don’t want to go overboard. I’ve started (gingerly) doing stairs. It feels good to use the leg again after not being able to put weight on it, or bend it for about a month. If things keep progressing like this, I’m hoping I’ll be back on my feet and squashing jobbers in a couple months.

Club Firestorm members will notice everything has been updated.

The free pro match is going to be added shortly, the video files are still rendering. The file type they were origionally in isn’t compatible with the video player I use, so I had to remake them.

The main website is going to have a new match added to it next week, it’s a match I think everybody will enjoy a lot. I’m going to give Club Firestorm members a pre-release version this weekend.

I’m very excited to have Aryx Quinn/Tristan Baldwin in the fold. He’s one of a kind. Often imitated, never duplicated. He’s as skilled as he is sexy, he’s versatile (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) so he can fight on the mats, just as easily as he can rumble in the ring. I’ve always enjoyed working with Aryx, even if we were staring each other down from opposite corners of the ring.

I was pretty bummed out after hurting my knee, but I think even being hurt, I can help contribute in a lot of ways, especially that I’m more mobile now. I was basically useless in FL for the BG East tapings. I was stuck in a chair holding a camera the whole time, I did get some great shots, but it’s not the best use of my skill set. I’m able to help demonstrate more moves now, I can still head to pro practices and offer my 2 cents. I think just getting out of the house and being around things I enjoy will help get be back on track faster. It’s been miserable laying around with my leg up. I’ve gone though everything on my DVR. I have had a chance to get some reading done, which is nice. I forgot how much I enjoyed to sit back with a book and relax.

That’ll do it for now, keep your eyes peeled next week for a brand new Jonny match, that will be available on the main site (or 50% off for Club Firestorm members, in the discounted VODs section).

Firestorm Friday #2. Preview of CF content.

It’s another Firestorm Friday, I would’ve had this posting up sooner, but I had a private wrestling match today. The match was fun, it was against a long time friend who I’ve wrestled almost the entire duration of my BGE career! He enjoys egging me on, so to start the match he wore a Peyton Manning shirt. Of course after some witty banter, I ripped it off him and hit a series of pec chops. He gained the upper hand early in the match, but I managed to turn things around after a piledriver. From there on out, it was repeated corner beatings, and working him over as he was tied in the ropes. After he was worn down, I finished him off with a torture rack.  It’s all in a day’s work. 🙂

As part of Firestorm Friday, I’m going to give everybody a brief preview of some of the free content Club Firestorm members enjoy. This free content preview will be removed next (Firestorm) Friday.
Jonny vs. Skip Vance & Christian Taylor, free video clip

Members get free video preview clips of matches, added every update.

Below is a sample of what a Club Firestorm photo gallery looks like. Of course there’s not nearly as many photos here, and they’re from assorted matches, but you get the idea.

Club Firestorm members also get 2 free streaming video matches per month, exclusive blogs, exclusive download and DVD match options, and more!

Also, current Club Firestorm members, the exclusive DVD I offered for last week’s Firestorm Friday (click here to see the blog post about it– members only), will be discontinued tomorrow night. So you have 24 more hours to get it. I think going forward, I’ll add new Firestorm Friday DVD’s on Wednesdays, that way you can hopefully get them in time for weekend viewing, and leave them up for a week before taking them down.

The month of Firestorm continues as we get closer and closer to my birthday. Expect more limited time content, and special releases.

Hope everybody has a good weekend!

Jonny

Ringwars 24, FL, CF update

For those of you who haven’t had a chance to check out BG East’s latest set of releases (109.1), you should do so at www.beast.com

You’ll see your friendly neighborhood Firestorm is in action on Ringwars 24, against Rory MacLeod. Truth be told, I don’t recall much about this bout.

I’m guessing it was the start of my gradual decent into my beefier years, hence the singlet. Looking back on it now, it’s not like I was in bad shape. Hell, you can still see abs in this picture!

I think the photo selection on the website is slightly misleading. I could be wrong, but I don’t recall the match being that one sided. I remember feeling that this was a strange bout for me at the time, because I didn’t particularly care for Rory that much. It’s not that I disliked him, but I was indifferent. It’s easier for me to get excited for matches if I have some connection with my opponent, or there’s something about the match that I find interesting. Whether it’s some match type, or personal goal that I want to accomplish. Not that my desire to destroy all who dare to step in the ring with me isn’t motivating enough.

I don’t remember who won, so if you’ve seen the match, shoot me an email and let me know!

I’m also excited to see the release of Guido Genatto vs. Chet Chastain from Fan Fantasy 3. Guido’s an incredible heel (Club Firestorm members just got an exclusive reminder of that), and Chet is one of the best new prospects to come along in awhile. He’s handsome, skilled, has a great body, and the attitude to have long successful BG East career. That being said, he’d be wise to avoid matches like this if he wants a long career. Guido mops the floor with the stud, in what could possibly be the sexiest match that both wrestlers will ever take part in. It’s a must own if you’re a fan of either.

The other match that you can’t go wrong with is Kip Sorell being repeatedly KOed by Zach Reno, in Sleeper Surrender 1. Kip is the epitome of perfection, it’s almost unfair that one person can have that much going for him. So it’s great to see Zach make him suffer for being such a pretty boy.

I just got back from my trip to Florida. It was a busy, but rewarding trip. We filmed a lot of new BG East matches, I was able to get some Jonny matches done, and celebrate with Drake Marcos for his birthday. We went to the Manor for his birthday with a small group that consisted of me, Drake, Kayden Keller, Rolf Fulton, a BGE rookie, and a friend of ours.

I also updated Club Firestorm with several new photo galleries, free video clips, exclusive matches, and free streaming videos. Expect a CF Members blog soon, with a couple more behind the scenes photos.

I wasn’t able to get any sleep last night, so I’m about to take a nap. Till we meet again, Firestormers!

Top dog

I won BG East’s year end award for the “Best Squash of 2014”, I think this is the 3rd year in a row I’ve been involved in the best squash job. My poor opponent was newbie, Nicholas Rush. As soon as the Boss set him in my cross hairs, I was drooling to sink my teeth into him. Just look at the two of us, it was a mismatch from the start.

I don’t recall poor Nicky getting a single offensive maneuver in. I was in a muscle building phase during this match, so I’m a little beefier, but more muscular than I typically am. Despite our appearances, we were the same weight. Nicholas did have a 9 inch height advantage over me though, not that it mattered.

The match has a terrific write up on the BGE website, click here to visit the webpage. Demolition 17 is a fantastic DVD overall. It also features 2014’s top babyface winner, Jake Jenkins. Poor Jake is matched up against the beefy bruiser, Guido Genatto. That match in particular won the “Best ring match and the best submission, of 2014”. Demo 17 has a little something for everybody AND it’s on sale until March 1st! Just to reiterate, best heel, best babyface, best squash, best ring match, and best submission all on one DVD, at a discounted price. It’s a no brainer.

Here’s a fun behind the scenes fact, the visible scratch on my head during this match is a result of an impromptu wrestling match against Jake Jenkins. I forget who else was around but Jake and I both have extensive amateur wrestling experience, Austin Cooper was egging us on a bit and we threw down. It was pretty intense but I was able to get the better of Jake. We all went out into Boston that night and Austin wouldn’t stop teasing Jake about it.

I’m finally back on track as far as dieting and working out go. I’m not sick of eating healthy yet, no cravings and I haven’t had a cheat day…yet. Working out has been a bit discouraging. I know it can take a while to get back to where I was before but it’s very humbling. I’m struggling to put up half the weight I used to and I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. I think with another week under my belt the level of soreness will go down significantly, my body just needs to adjust to lifting weights again. If I keep at it, I’ll have my abs back by April.

I’d also like to give Cameron Matthews a congrats on finally winning best ass. I’m glad your ass is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

From my point of view

Every now and again it would be nice if people saw things from my point of view. I’m not a bad guy, I don’t go out of my way to hunt down and destroy jobbers… Ok. Well, maybe I do. BUT, it’s not out of malice. I can’t help myself, it’s my vice. Some like to gamble, I like love to punish pretty boys. I just happen to be in the fortunate position to indulge my vice.

(Pictured above BG East releases: Jobberpaloozer 12 vs. Jake Jenkins, Hunkbash 10 vs. Braden Charron, Ball Bash 2 vs. Reese Wells, Contract 6 vs. Brad Rochelle)

Like when The Boss dangled Rio Garza in front of me. I don’t dislike Rio, I think he’s a great guy, but look at him! How can you not want to punish those pecs, abuse those abs, twist and torture every last joint on his picture perfect, sculpted body?! I don’t want to say I get lost in the moment, because I’m very aware of what I’m doing, I suppose the closest way to describe it would be to say, I’m totally immersed in my work. The look of pain on the jobbers face, the way his body reacts to each hold or strike, the way his muscles strain as he tries to escape. Those are the only things that matter to me in those moments. Each reaction is a small reward for the work I’m putting in. Most times I could quit half way through the match, and I suppose it would be a satisfactory beating, but I’m compelled to finish. I need to finish. I need him, I need you, I need The Boss, and more importantly, I personally need to know that I put all my effort into creating a masterpiece. The jobber helps bring out the best in me, helps me reach my potential. I’d like to think I bring out the best in him. I’d like to think, I help the world appreciate the jobber more. What better way can the Rio’s, the Jake Jenkins, Austin Cooper’s, and Kip Sorell’s of the world be appreciated, than after they’ve been worked over, put on display and left in a heap of sweaty, destroyed muscle?

(Pictured above BG East releases: Wrestler Spotlight: Rio Garza, Hunkbash 11 vs. Rio Garza)

It’s an experience I don’t feel like many can relate to. It’s exhilarating being able to step into the ring and completely dominate another man, impose your will, and have him be helpless to stop you. So that’s why I put my thinking cap on, and tried to think of a way to share it with you. I could try a lengthy text description, a series of photos, maybe some clips of my favorite moments, but that’s been done before. It wouldn’t do justice to the experience. Then it hit me like a clothesline. Point of View wrestling. Point of View 1: Jonny Firestorm vs. Jake “Lorenzo” Lowe, will put you in the ring with me. Literally. For the first time ever, you will experience a Jonny beat down from my point of view. You’ll see the pain rush across Jake’s face with each gut punch. Only to be replaced by awe and eagerness, as I let him crawl up my quads to muscle worship me. You’ll also get to experience life as a jobber when the perspective switches over to Jake’s point of view. You’ll get lost in the moment seeing me cock back my fist and drive it into your abs, you might even feel the impact when I slam you down to the mat. You’ll be able to hear each breath, feel the ring shake beneath our feet, see the holds from each perspective.

(Pictured above Point of View 1: Jonny vs. Jake “Lorenzo” Lowe)

I’m not sure POV wrestling has a big market. Truth be told, I don’t care. I wanted to try to share a wrestling experience with the world, let you see things from my eyes. Or on the flip side, see how hopeless it is to be on the receiving end of things. I wanted to create, break new ground, and push the envelope. Originality and innovation might be another one of my obsessions. Just like my compulsion to give jobbers the beatings they deserve, the beatings they were put inside the ring to receive. I always want to think of a new way to do things, a new way to create or present the wrestling experience. If it sticks, that’s great, if not, at least I’m failing at creating something new.

I’ll warn you ahead of time, this is the first attempt at this type of match. It’s the very first real POV wrestling match ever.  Some other productions might have brief moments of POV angles. Throughout the whole match the perspective changes multiple times. There will be short periods of time where the camera angle is less than desirable, it’s part of the learning experience and they don’t last that long. During those moments there’s still something exciting about the experience. When it’s not the best viewing angle (which you could argue is more realistic, you don’t always have the best view while wrestling), the experience of either me applying the hold, or Jake suffering in the hold is still pretty cool. Not to mention the verbal humiliation Jake endures as he’s forced to worship me, and accept that he’s going to become my bitch boy after the match. The match is slightly over 40 minutes long, unfortunately the POV camera had it’s battery die before the finish of the match (which occurred shortly after it died) but the video ends in a very satisfying way as it is. This isn’t a buyer beware type of warning, I’m very happy and proud of the match as it is, but I wanted to be transparent so nobody felt like they were getting taken for a ride (except during the POV slams). It’s similar to my other “baby”, Custom Combat, it’s a great initial offering and now that I know the in’s and out’s of making it work, the next one will be that much better.

I guarantee this point of view is much more exciting than my current point of view. Which is staring between my computer screen and the ceiling, sick as a dog. So here’s to me feeling better and I hope you enjoy Point of View 1.
