What’s this? An update?

It’s been awhile, I didn’t really realize it till now, but the Club Firestorm members have been getting a lot more love than you guys. Well, that all changes now. Sort of. Let’s get the cheap plug out of the way first.

Club Firestorm has had several very recent (as in tonight) changes. You’ll notice them immediately by visiting the Exclusive Content section(s), and the wrestlers section. The discounted content and free clips are going to be following suite later this week. I think it’s just a better method overall for displaying content, and making sure everybody can see exactly what they’re looking for.

Incase you’re on the fence about it… why join Club Firestorm? This is why

I’ve done 2 pro shows in the last month, which is pretty much what I’ve done per year for the past couple years. I’m feeling pretty good, my knee has held up just fine. Granted, I’ve changed up the way I wrestle slightly, so I’m minimizing the risk involved. I’ve also been going to pro training every Monday at a local school. It’s not the most prestigious place to train, but it’s close by and there’s a lot of rookies. Coaching people up is something I enjoy, and being at a more inexperienced school has given the the opportunity to do just that. I don’t necessarily want to be considered a trainer, but I do like pulling people aside, and give them my two cents. So far everybody has been very receptive, and eager for me to help them, which is nice. Almost makes me feel like I know what I’m talking about. Most of them aren’t destined for anything other than local, weekend warrior VFW status, which is fine, but one or two of them do have the potential to make something of themselves. I’d also be lying if I said the appeal of going to a new school full of rookies wasn’t about recruiting new talent, and beating up jobbers 🙂

I’ve been dieting and working out almost as strictly as I was when I lost all that weight a couple years back. I’ve been in the gym (and killing it by the way) just as much, the diet has proven to be a bit more of a struggle. I’m taking a day or two where I definitely go over my numbers for the day, but for the  most part I’m on point. I’ve lost 15 lbs already, I feel pretty good, I think I definitely look better, and I plan on sticking with it for another month or two, just so I can get the abs back in time for summer. Just kidding, sort of. It’s mostly just so I can be happy with the way I look. I don’t mind being a little beefy, it’s easy to do with my height, adding on 5 lbs is very notable when you’re 5’5 as opposed to 6’0. My clothes weren’t fitting right, my belly was jiggling while having sex, it was time for a change it up for a bit. So fans of fit Jonny, get ready, because there’s no telling how long it’ll last once it happens. Fans of beefy Jonny, no worries. There’s plenty of archived footage, and let’s be serious, it’s not going to last, I love beer, and junk food entirely too much. Plus, football season starts in September, game over diet. However, as I write this I’m ending a night where I had a perfect diet, but had a couple beers too many. The carbs alone put me over my numbers by a ton. Need to regroup tomorrow.

I’m kind of nerdy, not full blown, but nerdier than most. I can’t wait for this summer’s lineup of superhero movies. Batman vs. Superman followed up by Captain America: Civil War is going to be super bad ass! Game of Thrones can’t come soon enough, and the Walking Dead feels like things are really about stop start picking up. Can’t forget about DareDevil this Friday on Netflix!

I’m supposed to be having a sleep over with the one and only Cameron Matthews on Thursday. Some St. Patty’s Day festivities at the end of the night, but first, we’re going to be inviting a select group of New England pro’s to my personal ring space to work out with us. It should be a really fun night, anytime we get together is. Cam even showed up to my last pro show with a “Jonny 3:16” sign. lol.

I recently had my first taping since my knee injury. I wrestled in 5 matches, which was about 2 1/2 horus of ring time. It was a lot of fun, definitely helped build my confidence back up. Some of the other in attendance were Kayden Keller, Drake Marcos, Ty Alexander, Chet Chastain, Charlie Evans, Brice Moore, Ethan Andrews, and Biff Farrell. It’s always good to get a bunch of people together to wrestle, but I also really enjoy the social interaction. Plus, being crammed into a hotel room together, and sharing a bed with Biff is never a bad thing.

I’m talking to some brand new wrestlers, so expect to see some brand new faces (like, really brand spanking new) pop up soon. I’m also working on getting some of those elusive dram matches put together, Chet Chasten vs. Aryx Quinn anybody? So hopefully you’ll be seeing more of those soon.

Well, it’s way past my bedtime, I need my beauty rest! Surer sleepers to all Firestormers, and to all a goodnight!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, CF update

Now that I’ve had my day to sulk over the Patriots loss to Denver, it’s time to get back to work. This team is so good, it’s amazing what they’re able to do. They played and were beating the #1 defense in the NFL with 1 legitimate WR, an offensive line thats been patched together, and their backup RB. I know every team is banged up at this point, but look at how baron they are at WR. Even the WR group in Baltimore, or Carolina is better than what the Pats are playing with right now. I think the clock management was poor towards the end of the game, the pass play Gronk got hurt on should’ve been a run. That whole drive should’ve been run, run, run, punt if need be. It’s kind of good they lost, I think BB will be able to use that as motivation. ‘Dola will be back soon, Gronk will be healthy in a couple weeks, if things go well for Edelman, he’ll be back by week 17 or the playoffs, Collin’s & Hightower should be back up to speed in a couple weeks. The Lewis injury is still a tough one to deal with. I’m just glad they lost now, I couldn’t handle them going 16-0, just to lose in the SB again.

Anyways, onto the Jonny stuff.

My knee is feeling significantly better than it was the last time I posted. It’s still a little swollen, but I’m able to walk without crutches now. Just around the house and stuff, I don’t want to go overboard. I’ve started (gingerly) doing stairs. It feels good to use the leg again after not being able to put weight on it, or bend it for about a month. If things keep progressing like this, I’m hoping I’ll be back on my feet and squashing jobbers in a couple months.

Club Firestorm members will notice everything has been updated.

The free pro match is going to be added shortly, the video files are still rendering. The file type they were origionally in isn’t compatible with the video player I use, so I had to remake them.

The main website is going to have a new match added to it next week, it’s a match I think everybody will enjoy a lot. I’m going to give Club Firestorm members a pre-release version this weekend.

I’m very excited to have Aryx Quinn/Tristan Baldwin in the fold. He’s one of a kind. Often imitated, never duplicated. He’s as skilled as he is sexy, he’s versatile (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) so he can fight on the mats, just as easily as he can rumble in the ring. I’ve always enjoyed working with Aryx, even if we were staring each other down from opposite corners of the ring.

I was pretty bummed out after hurting my knee, but I think even being hurt, I can help contribute in a lot of ways, especially that I’m more mobile now. I was basically useless in FL for the BG East tapings. I was stuck in a chair holding a camera the whole time, I did get some great shots, but it’s not the best use of my skill set. I’m able to help demonstrate more moves now, I can still head to pro practices and offer my 2 cents. I think just getting out of the house and being around things I enjoy will help get be back on track faster. It’s been miserable laying around with my leg up. I’ve gone though everything on my DVR. I have had a chance to get some reading done, which is nice. I forgot how much I enjoyed to sit back with a book and relax.

That’ll do it for now, keep your eyes peeled next week for a brand new Jonny match, that will be available on the main site (or 50% off for Club Firestorm members, in the discounted VODs section).

From my point of view

Every now and again it would be nice if people saw things from my point of view. I’m not a bad guy, I don’t go out of my way to hunt down and destroy jobbers… Ok. Well, maybe I do. BUT, it’s not out of malice. I can’t help myself, it’s my vice. Some like to gamble, I like love to punish pretty boys. I just happen to be in the fortunate position to indulge my vice.

Like when The Boss dangled Rio Garza in front of me. I don’t dislike Rio, I think he’s a great guy, but look at him! How can you not want to punish those pecs, abuse those abs, twist and torture every last joint on his picture perfect, sculpted body?! I don’t want to say I get lost in the moment, because I’m very aware of what I’m doing, I suppose the closest way to describe it would be to say, I’m totally immersed in my work. The look of pain on the jobbers face, the way his body reacts to each hold or strike, the way his muscles strain as he tries to escape. Those are the only things that matter to me in those moments. Each reaction is a small reward for the work I’m putting in. Most times I could quit half way through the match, and I suppose it would be a satisfactory beating, but I’m compelled to finish. I need to finish. I need him, I need you, I need The Boss, and more importantly, I personally need to know that I put all my effort into creating a masterpiece. The jobber helps bring out the best in me, helps me reach my potential. I’d like to think I bring out the best in him. I’d like to think, I help the world appreciate the jobber more. What better way can the Rio’s, the Jake Jenkins, Austin Cooper’s, and Kip Sorell’s of the world be appreciated, than after they’ve been worked over, put on display and left in a heap of sweaty, destroyed muscle?

It’s an experience I don’t feel like many can relate to. It’s exhilarating being able to step into the ring and completely dominate another man, impose your will, and have him be helpless to stop you. So that’s why I put my thinking cap on, and tried to think of a way to share it with you. I could try a lengthy text description, a series of photos, maybe some clips of my favorite moments, but that’s been done before. It wouldn’t do justice to the experience. Then it hit me like a clothesline. Point of View wrestling. Point of View 1: Jonny Firestorm vs. Jake “Lorenzo” Lowe, will put you in the ring with me. Literally. For the first time ever, you will experience a Jonny beat down from my point of view. You’ll see the pain rush across Jake’s face with each gut punch. Only to be replaced by awe and eagerness, as I let him crawl up my quads to muscle worship me. You’ll also get to experience life as a jobber when the perspective switches over to Jake’s point of view. You’ll get lost in the moment seeing me cock back my fist and drive it into your abs, you might even feel the impact when I slam you down to the mat. You’ll be able to hear each breath, feel the ring shake beneath our feet, see the holds from each perspective.

I’m not sure POV wrestling has a big market. Truth be told, I don’t care. I wanted to try to share a wrestling experience with the world, let you see things from my eyes. Or on the flip side, see how hopeless it is to be on the receiving end of things. I wanted to create, break new ground, and push the envelope. Originality and innovation might be another one of my obsessions. Just like my compulsion to give jobbers the beatings they deserve, the beatings they were put inside the ring to receive. I always want to think of a new way to do things, a new way to create or present the wrestling experience. If it sticks, that’s great, if not, at least I’m failing at creating something new.

I’ll warn you ahead of time, this is the first attempt at this type of match. It’s the very first real POV wrestling match ever.  Some other productions might have brief moments of POV angles. Throughout the whole match the perspective changes multiple times. There will be short periods of time where the camera angle is less than desirable, it’s part of the learning experience and they don’t last that long. During those moments there’s still something exciting about the experience. When it’s not the best viewing angle (which you could argue is more realistic, you don’t always have the best view while wrestling), the experience of either me applying the hold, or Jake suffering in the hold is still pretty cool. Not to mention the verbal humiliation Jake endures as he’s forced to worship me, and accept that he’s going to become my bitch boy after the match. The match is slightly over 40 minutes long, unfortunately the POV camera had it’s battery die before the finish of the match (which occurred shortly after it died) but the video ends in a very satisfying way as it is. This isn’t a buyer beware type of warning, I’m very happy and proud of the match as it is, but I wanted to be transparent so nobody felt like they were getting taken for a ride (except during the POV slams). It’s similar to my other “baby”, Custom Combat, it’s a great initial offering and now that I know the in’s and out’s of making it work, the next one will be that much better.

I guarantee this point of view is much more exciting than my current point of view. Which is staring between my computer screen and the ceiling, sick as a dog. So here’s to me feeling better and I hope you enjoy Point of View 1.
